Your comments: Steelers players say Jets tipped goal-line plays in AFC Championship
Matthew Emmons/U.S. PresswireSteelers linebacker Lamarr Woodley Sittsburgh Steelers Jerseys said he was able to read the Jets' offensive line and tell that a pass was coming on certain plays. One of the reasons the Steelers are playing in the Super Bowl is because of their second-half goal-line stand against the Jets in the AFC Championship on Jan. 22.The Jets had 1st-and-goal from the 2-yard line and, after a 1-yard run, threw the ball twice before being stuffed on a fourth-down run. This week, some Steelers players said they knew when the Jets were going to pass on that set of downs.Jets fans on NJ.com were critical of the coaching staff for not running the ball more at the goal line, and after the game, coach Rex Ryan said "if we had the benefit of hindsight, we should have probably just ran ... four straight times."NJ.com user shouts wrote: Rex can cry "hindsight" all he wants, but after that 2nd down Rashard Mendenhall Jersey pass didn't fool them, I think every Jets fan was thinking just pound it in. I gasped when he went back to throw. And you can see in the replay that the play was tipped. No one plugged any gaps, and they all stood upright. The Steelers had it cold. And NJ.com user bk said that the Steelers were the better team that day, and even if the Jets scored on that drive, the outcome would have been the same:Sounds like the difference between a team just about to play in the Super Bowl and a team polishing its "wait til next year" statements. In any case, it didn't matter. Pittsburgh's offense went into "hold" mode after racking up 24 unanswered points. They probably could have scored another 24 in the second half if they wanted to.Respond to these by going to the comments Chris Kemoeatu Jersey section of this Star-Ledger story.
